Nine FBI staffers say the Trump probe cost them their jobs. Now they're suing.

Nine former FBI employees sued in federal court in Washington after being fired in February over work connected to the Mar-a-Lago classified-documents investigation. According to AP, Axios and CBS News, the plaintiffs allege the dismissals were political retaliation and part of a personal vendetta rather than discipline for misconduct. They say their assignments were routine and based on expertise, and they seek reinstatement, back pay and declaratory relief. Those claims are allegations in a complaint, not court findings.
Response / context
Axios and AP report that termination letters from FBI Director Kash Patel said the employees exercised poor judgment or lacked impartiality and helped create a perception of political weaponization. The plaintiffs dispute that characterization, say they had no relevant misconduct or performance history, and allege they were denied a proper investigation, notice, hearing and appeal. No government response filed in court and no judicial ruling were identified in the reviewed material. The Ledger subsequently reviewed the complaint's caption, introduction, paragraph 154 and requested relief. The pleading is the plaintiffs' account, including its description of the termination letters; independent exhibits and the complete current docket were not reviewed.
